Métis Association

Central Okanagan

ACKNOWLEDGMENT

We acknowledge and respect that
We live, work, and play on the
ancestral lands of the Syilx people,
and the Westbank First Nation.

OUR PURPOSE

The Métis Association of Central Okanagan is dedicated to supporting the Métis community in British Columbia. Our mission includes identifying the unique needs of Métis citizens and working to protect, promote, and enhance their cultural, mental, physical, social, and spiritual well-being.

In Métis spirituality, sage smudging is a sacred practice used for purification and healing. It involves burning sage to cleanse the body, mind, and spirit, as well as spaces, in order to restore balance and harmony. The ritual is often performed during important gatherings, ceremonies, or before engaging in significant activities to invite positive energy and connect with the Creator.
